Helsinki's Best Salad Bar, Finland
Helsinki is filled with restaurants, cafes and bars, yet somehow I always end up at my favorite salad bar.
A visit to Finland cannot be complete unless lunch at the Theater’s Wine and Deli has happened.
I have literally never been in Finland
without visiting it at least once.
It’s quick, filling and not pretentious.
You’re given a plain salad with tomato and watermelon (which
I always ask them to remove) and get to choose your fillings. You’ve got a
choice of different cheeses, chicken, shrimp, sauces and many more.
Honestly I’m always indecisive and end up staring at the
fillings. Everything just looks so good and the possibilities are endless!
I do however always ask for the sesame oil sauce..
The salads are huge, definitely a meal in itself, which is
perfect for a salad lover like me.
The weather was perfect so we were able to sit outside. The
view from their terrace is great; not only have you got the Esplanadi Street
(which resembles Paris with all of its posh cafes) but there’s also the
Esplanadi Park.
Afterwards we decided to meet up with some friends at the Hietalahti
flea market for some browsing and coffee.
Obviously I settled for ice cream, it is summer after all
and if you’re abroad the calories don’t count.
Unwilling to sit still for more than 20 minutes we decided
to take on the market stalls. We found clothes, old school toys, furniture,
shoes, really anything!
By the way I noticed that there were some vintage designer
goods, I spotted some Gucci bags, Burberry scarves, Miu Miu sunglasses etc… So
do visit if you’re interest in those.
And don’t forget to haggle.
Hietalahti flea market is open from 6:30am to 6pm from
Mondays to Fridays and 6:30am to 4pm on Saturdays. For more info check this page.
To end the day we headed to Kansalaistori to protest against
racist and nationalist members of parliament. Over 15,000 showed up as we all
listened to a number of speeches by politicians and artists.
Overall a lovely day drenched in the sun.
Helsinki is gorgeous isn't she?
